[---------------]

One minute, I was walking through dense trees, and the next, I was suddenly in a meadow. After a moment, I decided to trek onwards in towards the north. After spending a few hours going through the meadow, which seemed to span forever in all directions, I made it to a poorly maintained road, which had weeds growing through the asphalt. I stood for a moment, trying to figure out which direction I wanted to go in, when I suddenly noticed a sign pointing to my right which read: "To Civilization". I thought that was either a strange name for a city or a rather helpful sign for people like me who were lost in the middle of nowhere. I began travelling in the direction of the sign, and noticed that directly on my left, a wooded area was coming into view. Not wanting to go anywhere near any more forests, I quickly sped by it. It only last for a stretch of about a mile before becoming grassland.

By the afternoon, I still hadn't reached anything, but just up ahead, there was another forest that seemed to span the same distance as the one before. I sped by it fearing I was going in circles when the forest ended. What followed wasn't grassland, but a sudden gray. It wasn't even fog or smoke, but just gray, as though someone had painted the world by grid, and had forgotten this square. I walked past it, realizing that it ended in grassland after a mile. Thinking that continuing on would probably really lead me in a circle, and with my curiosity slowly getting the better of me, I decided to go back towards the gray. I stopped at the border where the gray met the road, looking up and realizing it stretched onwards to the sky, like a cube of gray. I stuck my hand into it, but it didn't disappear, and it didn't touch anything. Next, I withdrew my hand and stuck my foot where ground should be, discovering that there was indeed ground here. I took a deep breath, looked to my left and right, and quickly stepped into the gray.

I felt no different. I looked behind me and everything seemed normal "outside". I walked forward 30 steps and looked back. The "outside" world began to look a little dimmer and grayed out. I ran roughly 50 yards and turned back, this time seeing that the world was barely recognizable. I stepped back towards it and saw that its color and contrast returned. In this manner, I learned that far enough out, you lost sight of the world, sort of like being in fog, but a very slight fog that suddenly swallowed up things rather than gradually covering them. I decided to continue onwards in hope of discovering a way out of this increasingly odd world that the triangle of light from the world of the CORE had dropped me in.

After half an hour of walking, I noticed something in the distance. Hurriedly, I trotted towards it, to discover that as the gray receded, it left a door in its place. It seemed strange, just like a normal door someone would place in the front of their home. I stepped around it, and saw that there was nothing, just a door. Slowly, I gripped the knob and opened it, feeling a sense of dread and fear. Instead, I found the inside of an elevator car. It was a warm, dark red color, and the upper half of the interior was made of a cushiony fabric, while the lower half was a marble-like material, though tinted to match the red. A single light shone from the ceiling, somehow lighting it very brightly, though still leaving shadows in the corners. I stepped in, and the door shut behind me, sliding shut like that of an elevator, though it still looked like a front door.

I pressed the only button, which had a strange symbol that looked like a round, featureless face, whose mouth opened along the length of its entire head. It had empty eyes, and no features aside from them. When I pressed in the smooth button, which was black like ebony and very shiny, the face opened its mouth, then closed it again and disappeared. I felt a jolt, and it felt as though the elevator was lifting. A window suddenly popped into view on one of the walls, offering a breathtaking view of nothing but gray. I stared out of it for a while, before realizing that three hours had passed and the elevator was still going. Just as I looked at my watch to reconfirm how long it was, the elevator stopped suddenly, causing me to topple forward, bracing the wall. As I regained my balance, I realized that the red fabric had ripped off with my hand, revealing an old rusty metal underneath. I found this odd, and as I ripped off more fabric, the door suddenly opened with a loud "ding!".
